So.

The Virginia Woolf class that I am taking is the highest level English course I have ever attempted. It is organized as a Senior Seminar and is very serious. Intimidatingly so.

We have three papers through out the semester, and then one final term paper. Two papers are original, and the third can be a revision of one of the two, that grade replacing the lowest of the two.

For my first paper, I was completely shocked by a large “D” for a grade. I can honestly say that I do not remember the last time that I received such a low grade on a paper. Apparently there was a giant misunderstanding as to what my Professor wanted from us in terms of like. The basic content of the thesis.

Which was like. Devastating.

So I managed to rewrite an entirely new paper for a replacement grade.

And I just got back the comments.

Michelle, I am convinced that your last draft was a result of miscommunication. When I asked you to help the reader understand the novel better you took that literally. But here you have indeed helped the reader enormously by making a debatable, supportable argument about the novel itself, in which your textual evidence illuminates your analysis and vice-versa. This is wonderful writing—clear, precise, insightful, significant—a joy to read. I am impressed and delighted. grade: A

I. Am. So. Happy. Because this woman is not easily impressed at all, so I feel really really good right now.

Like this could not have possibly gone better.
